As posted by Local 992 President Ed Preece on NBForums.info : "Many of our retirees have contacted us about a "certificate of existence" which was sent to them by the city. As was requested we have checked into it and are recommending you either take it to city hall to fill out or have it notarized and sent in. You do not have to include your social security #. Appearently after it was found out that Hartford was still sending pension checks to deceased members New Britain was told in an audit that they needed to update their records, this is what prompted these papers. If you have any questions or concerns, or trouble getting to either city hall or a notary, please contact Ed Preece at Station 8." |

There was a recent memo posted by the Chief about an off-duty firefighter identifying himself as a New Britain firefighter who helped at the scene of an accident and was asked to contact the Chief's office or Personnel. This is VERY IMPORTANT! It is a matter of infectious disease and that person's health and safety. Please contact the Chief, the Personnel Director, or President Ed Preece ASAP! |

Apr 03, 2008 at 03:54 PM |
|
We are urging everyone who has been on a year or more to attend the Civil Service Commission's meeting on Monday, April 7th at 6:30PM in Room 201 of City Hall. The Commission is considering putting the union brothers who were UNFAIRLY skipped and eliminated back on the Lieutenants list. They are also considering extending the list for another year. We need everyone who is not on probation to show up for support! |
